What's the difference between style and fashion? How can one achieve thematic harmony in a wardrobe without becoming an archetype?

Fashion is trend-based, requires a reinvention of apparel. Fashion is spectacle.

Style is a personal preference; but, it does not exist without the influence of fashion. Style is the belief that we are free from Fashion and the whims of capitalism.

I would argue the only 'style' outside of the whims of capitalism is extreme minimalism, based on function (this, of course, can be coopted by capitalism -- I think we are seeing the beginnings of this). The only other exception I can think of would be cultural/traditional attire, but this is typically influenced by capital.
